Bhubaneswar, Apr 10 (UNI) The total Covid-19 positive cases in Odisha went up to 48 today as four more reported positive last night.
The Health and Family Welfare department yesterday put the total positive case in Odisha at 44 with two more tested positive but later in the night four more cases tested coronavirus positive taking the total tally to 48 today.
Sources said as many as 408 samples were tested yesterday out of which 402 were found negative and the rest six tested positive.
Out of the six cases reported positive yesterday, a woman from Dhenkanal who had come in contact with Markaz returnee and another patient from Medinapur in West Bengal under treatment at a private hospital here ,tested positive.
The detailed travel history of these two positive cases were shared by the Health and Family Welfare Department.
Subsequently, four more cases were found positive and one of them was from Kalahandi who had come in contact with a Covid-19 positive case.
The Health and Family welfare Department is yet to reveal the travel history of three persons who tested positive last night.
According to the CDMO of Kalahandi, one youth who had returned from Bahrain, and was in home quarantine had tested covid 19 positive.He had come in contact with as many as 16 persons.
All of them were put under quarantine by the local authority. While one of them tested positive last night , the others tested negative.
The person who tested positive had played cricket with the Baharin returnee Covid-19 positive patient. He is being shifted to Awani Covid Hospital at Cuttack.
Odisha has now 45 active coronavirus cases.Two positive cases had already been cured and discharged from the hospital and one has succumbed to the dreaded disease at the AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.
Meanwhile, about 4000 Covid 19 test kits, reagents and VTMs were airlifted from Mumbai to Bhubaneswar last night through a special air cargo.
Official sources said the arrival of the kits would now strengthen the government’s efforts to ramp up the coronavirus testing facilities in the state.
The government has decided to conduct at least one thousand test per day.
