COVID-19: Optical shops to open in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 8 (UNI) A section of shops including optical shops will be allowed to open in Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Wednesday.
"In addition to the list of shops that will be allowed to open as announced earlier, optical shops in Kerala will be allowed to open once in a week. This would benefit those who are using spectacles and need to repair them or get new ones," the Chief Minister said while addressing a press conference at the Government Secretariat.
On Tuesday, the Chief Minister announced a schedule for opening a section of the shops in the state.
"Shops involved in sales and service of mobile phones would open on Sundays. Workshops, garages engaged in repair and maintenance of vehicles and associated spare parts shops would open twice, on Sundays and Thursdays," he said.
Shops selling electrical appliances like fans and air conditioners are also being considered for opening once in a week. The days would be announced later, he added.
Electricians are being considered part of essential services and they now have the permission to go to houses and flats for repairing or fault rectification, he added.
