COVID-19: Brazil's death toll near 155,000

Brasilia, Oct 21 (UNI) Brazil reported 661 more deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 154,837, the Ministry of Health said.
Meanwhile, 23,227 new cases were reported, taking the national count to 5,273,954.
Brazil ranks second globally in COVID-19 deaths, behind only the United States. It ranks third worldwide in confirmed cases, behind the United States and India.
The state of Sao Paulo, the most populous in the country, has been most affected by the disease, with 1,068,962 cases and 38,246 deaths, followed by Rio de Janeiro, with 292,621 cases and 19,836 deaths.
