COVID-19: 62 new positive cases reported  in AP, tally touches 1,525

Vijayawada, May 2 (UNI) Despite vigorous efforts of government machinery in Andhra Pradesh to check the spike in Coronavirus positive cases, 62 new cases have been reported since the last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,525 in the state.
A health bulletin here on Saturday said the new positive cases were reported from 9 am on Friday to 9 am this morning. However, no death has been reported during the period.
Of the 62 new positive cases, 25 cases reported in Kurnool district, 12 cases in Krishna district, 6 cases in Nellore district, 4 cases each in Anantapur, Kadapa and Visakhapatnam districts, 3 cases in East Godavari district, 2 cases in Guntur district, 1 case each in Prakasam and West Godavari districts.
Out of the total 1,525 cases, 436 positive cases reported in Kurnool district, 308 cases in Guntur district, 258 cases in Krishna district, 90 cases in Nellore district, 83 cases in Kadapa district, 80 cases in Chittoor district, 71 cases in Anantapur district, 61 cases in Prakasam district, 59 cases in West Godavari district, 45 cases in East Godavari district, 29 cases in Visakhapatnam district and five cases in Srikakulam district.
The Covid-19 pandemic had claimed 33 lives so far and about 441 patients have been discharged from hospitals after they had recovered from the disease.
At present, 1051 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals for the pandemic, the bulletin said.
