COVID-19: 275 evacuees from Iran shifted to Army Wellness Facility at Jodhpur

Jodhpur, Mar 29  (UNI) A fresh batch of 275 Indians were evacuated from coronavirus-hit Iran arrived here at Jodhpur airport and then shifted to Indian Army Wellness Facility on Sunday morning.
“A preliminary screening of the passengers was conducted at the airport and thereafter, they have shifted to the Army Wellness Facility set up at the Jodhpur Military Station,” Rajasthan-based Defence PRO Col Sombit Ghosh said.
A senior health official said of the 275 passengers, there were 133 women and 142 men, including two infants and four children.
The Army authorities as part of Operation Namaste, have created Army Wellness Facilities which comprises of all amenities and are fully geared up to accommodate all the evacuees and provide them with requisite medical and administrative support during their quarantine period, he added.
The earlier batch of 277 evacuees who had arrived at Jodhpur on March 25 have settled down comfortably and are being regularly monitored by the army medical teams.
The evacuees were mostly pilgrims from Ladakh and Kashmir.
The evacuees expressed happiness and appreciated the government for their untiring efforts in bringing them from coronavirus-hit Iran.
