COVID-19: 1,213 community kitchen started in 1,031 local bodies, says Kerala CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 30 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said 1,213 community kitchens were started functioning in 1,031 local bodies in view of lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the State.
Out of 1,034 local bodies, 1031 started the facility which provide food to 1,54,258 people including free food to 1,37,930 persons, the CM said while addressing a press conference at the Government Secretariat.
"Destitutes, homeless and the needy (those who cannot cook food on their own) were provided food from the community kitchens. The volunteers from the local bodies home deliver the food packets," he said.
