Court to rule June 9 on Qutub Minar

New Delhi, May 24 (UNI) A Delhi court on Tuesday said it will pronounce on June 9 its order on worship of Hindu and Jain deities at Qutub Minar.
A petition was filed by Jain deity Tirthankar Rishabh Dev and Hindu gods in the Saket court by citing a short history of how 27 temples were demolished by Qutubdin Aibak, a general in Mohamad Ghori’s army, and how the Quwwat-ul-Islam mosque was raised by reusing the material.
The petitioners submitted that the Qutub Minar premises have clear pictures of Hindu gods like Ganesh, Vishnu and Yaksha and symbols like kalash and lotus along with temple wells, which suggest a Hindu origin of the building.
