Court releases Geologist charged on Bribery case

Mysuru, Sept 19(UNI) Geologist Alphonsis, who was facing bribery charges, was on Wednesday set free by the Third Additional Court.
The Geologist was accused of taking a bribe of Rs One lakh to allow sand transportation. Judge Sudhindra Nath instructed the police to release the accused.
Lokayukta police had arrested Alphonsis while taking bribe of Rs 1 lakh from one Basavaraj at his residence at Kuvempunagar on March 27, 2010. During the inquiry, Basavaraj told that he was working for one Nadakrishna and he was giving money to the Geologist as instructed by him. But Nadakrishna denied he knew Basavaraj and told he was not working for his company, which resulted in the release of Alphonsis.
