New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) A Delhi court on Friday granted bail to JNU student Sharjeel Imam, who had been arrested on charges of sedition.
Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat gave the bail on certain conditions. Imam was arrested after he made speeches against the CAA and NRC.
The prosecution had told the Delhi High Court that in terms of a Supreme Court order any such bail application would first go to the trial court.
Counsel for the student submitted that in the view of the Supreme Court direction on sedition, Imam should be granted bail.
