Country yet to develop accurate system to predict natural calamities: Kerala CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 15 (UNI) Even in the 21st century, the country is not able to predict natural calamities in advance, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said here on Thursday.
In his address at the 78th Independence Day celebrations at the Central Stadium here, the Chief Minister said though there are achievements in science and technology, the country is yet to develop an accurate scientific mechanism to predict natural disasters in advance and ensure the protection of people's property and lives.
General warnings are not not useful in preventing disasters, he said this in view of the recent landslides that killed hundreds of people in Wayanad
