Country needs concrete plan to fix economy, not foolish theories on millennials: Rahul

Country needs concrete plan to fix economy, not foolish theories on millennials: Rahul

New Delhi, Sept 12 (UNI) Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday hit out at the Narendra Modi government over the state of economy and said country needs concrete plan to fix the economy and not 'manipulated news cycles'.

Taking to twitter, Mr Gandhi also targeted Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her reported remarks that automobile industry is facing crisis because 'millennilas' prefer to use cab services like Uber and Ola instead of buying cars, and said, 'India need is not foolish theories about millennials'.

"What India needs is not propaganda, manipulated news cycles and foolish theories about millennials, but a concrete plan to fix the economy that we can all get behind", he tweeted.

Sharing an interview by former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh over Indian economy, Mr Gandhi further criticised the government and said "acknowledging that we have a problem is a good place to start".

Earlier, the Congress had also shared the former Prime Minister's interview and tweeted, "Instead of acknowledging the economic slowdown and accepting their mistakes, the government has indulged in whataboutery and as usual have started blaming others for their faults. BJP must accept the ongoing crisis and take measures to fix the economy".

In the interview Dr Singh said, "We cannot afford to deny that India is facing an economic crisis. Already, a lot of time has been lost. Instead of wasting its political capital by adopting a sector-wise piecemeal approach, or on monumental blunders like demonetisation, the time has now come for the government to carry out the next generation of structural reforms".

The former Prime Minister also pointed out that "I believe that we are entering a different kind of crisis now, a prolonged economic slowdown that is both structural and cyclical. The first step in a crisis is to acknowledge that we are facing one".
