Counting begins in MP’s Jhabua Assembly constituency

Jhabua, MP, Oct 24 (UNI) Counting of votes – cast on Monday by 62.01 per cent of a 2,77,599-strong electorate in the Jhabua (Scheduled Tribes) Assembly by-election – commenced at 0800 hrs on Thursday at the Government Polytechnic College here amid tight security, official sources said.
Fourteen tables were set up and in excess of 20 rounds are to be conducted. Adhering to the norm, postal ballots were taken up first.
As is the case in this state’s bipolar politics, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are on collision course. The Congress’ Kantilal Bhuria – an erstwhile central minister who represented Ratlam in the 12th, 13th, 14, 15th and 16th Lok Sabhas – is in an eyeball-to-eyeball confrontation with the saffron camp’s youthful countenance Bhanu Bhuria. A total five contestants are trying their fortunes.
There is no row at position 0.
