Counter campaign: BJP says 16 lakh jobs created in handloom, skilled sectors

Counter campaign: BJP says 16 lakh jobs created in handloom, skilled sectors

By Nirendra Dev

Jaipur/Kota, Oct 8 (UNI) Joblessness could be a serious allegation against the Narendra Modi regime as also BJP government in Rajasthan, but when one interacts on the issue with the BJP leaders and a section of citizenry, many say some of it is self-created by individuals and are only part of a false propaganda.

“To say the BJP has taken the country and Rajasthan towards a job-mukt India is utterly falsehood. At least in Rajasthan we know, the state has registered growth of its Khadi market by about 300 per cent. So does it happen without providing jobs?,” says BJP leader Bimal Kataria.

This view is endorsed readily by BJP spokesman Jitendra Shrimali, who told UNI, “There is a renewed emphasis for encouraging youngsters through StartUp India and Skill India. There is a stress on self-reliance of the educated youth and this is an idea of the future with a long term perspective”.

In this context, a BJP source said even designers from Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan are working on the Khadi works of Rajasthan.

“Job itself is getting re-crafted. This is a new India, we have,” said the source.

Sources point out that the recently organised Rajasthan Heritage Week was equally successful. The stress on heritage works in handicrafts and sectors like Khadi have opened plethora of avenues for weavers and artisans.

Agreeing with the argument, N Khan of Handloom Development Corporation has said that four years back the artisans had limited scope but now the growth opportunities are more. At least 50 weavers have been also recognised with national awards and this ultimately can fetch them international prestige, sources said.

According to another source – close to the BJP government in the state – “The Rajasthan Khadi business turnover in 2018 has already touched Rs 20 crore,” the source said.

BJP sources have also pointed out at the ‘indiscriminate’ unethical and forgery resorted by medicos.

“We have number of cases in Kota region and also in the state level that several doctors who are brought in to the government system under ‘In Service’ category for Post Graduate course with the idea to help improve works in government hospitals often do the vanishing act. This shows drop in figures but the reality is otherwise,” the source said.

It is on this backdrop the source said since 2015-16, it has come to light that as many as 190 medicos have done the vanishing act after completing the PG course with government expenses.

Even the state department does not have details about their where about, sources said.

“So how can you refer to these as joblessness or drop in number of doctors. It is an offence,” sources said.

A BJP leader in Jaipur, however, said the government has got hold of some wrong doers in this respect and notices are being served.

The state government has cautioned that if satisfactory responses do not come from those who have been served with notices, the registration as medical practitioners will be cancelled.

The unemployment issue is emerging as a hot topic in the run up to the December 7 election in Rajasthan where the BJP government claims to have placed 16 lakh youths in private sector after training under the aegis of Rajasthan Skill and Livelihoods Development Corporation (RSLDC).

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje herself dished out the statistics in an election rally.

However, Congress leader Giriraj Garg said the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) report has contested the government claim and maintained genuine placement was only about 9,000.

The report, has said, “There is an urgent need to tackle unemployment in the state through skill development in a holistic manner”.

The BJP leaders are unfazed. Ms Raje has been claiming she will break the pattern – of change in government in Rajasthan every five years for last two decades.

"We will bounce back to power may be with reduced seats," says a BJP office bearer.
