Countdown starts for DMK’s ouster, NDA govt with EPS as CM on the anvil: TN BJP prez Nainar

Chennai, Oct 12 (UNI) Chennai: Launching a statewide yatra from the temple town of Madurai ahead of the 2026 assembly election, Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran on Sunday predicted that the countdown has started for the removal of the ruling DMK from power and the NDA forming the government with AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) as the Chief Minister.
“From now on the countdown has started for the ouster of the DMK government. The NDA will wrest power and form the government with EPS as Chief Minister,” he told reporters before commencing his mass outreach campaign, christened ‘Yatra for Tamil Nadu hold its Head high’. As the face of the dominant OBC Thevar community for the saffron party, this is his first mass contact programme on becoming state party president in April, replacing K Annamalai.
Listing the failures of the DMK government of MK Stalin, he alleged that safety of women and children has become precarious with sexual offences on the rise due to the deteriorating law and order situation. Even sanitation workers protesting peacefully in a democratic manner are punished and this is a government facing the heat of the judiciary. He squarely blamed the police and the Chief Minister for the ghastly Karur stampede in the rally of actor Vijay. “Who is to be blamed? It rests with the police and the Chief Minister holding the Home Portfolio,” he said, adding “It is an irony that financial relief of Rs 10 lakh is given to hooch deaths but only Rs 2 lakh for deaths in road accidents.”
