By Neeraj Bajpai Stockholm, Dec 10 ( UNI) Nobel laureate Benget Holmstorm today asserted that some thing will certainly happen in India post demonetisation of big currency bills but made it clear that he can't visualise the exact contours of development. "Some thing will certainly happen but we can't visualise", he told UNI but refused to further elaborate. A couple of hours before the Nobel prize award ceremony, the economist said the step to junk the big currency notes was a right step to bridle corruption but it was a big challenge and there can not be a typical solution to deal with. The corruption is like water and it find its own ways to flow as in case of string water current, if the leakage is plugged at one point, the liquid starts oozing out at somewhere else, he said while batting for a holistic approach to tackle the menace. The 2016 Sveriges Rickbank prize in economic sciences in memory of Alfred Nobel was awarded to Oliver Hart and Bengt Holmstorm for their contributions to contract theory. Professor Holmstorm, a Finish citizen is associated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US, said criminals and economic offenders might adopt more dangerous way to siphon off the money and there might be unseen consequences. He feared such offenders might resort to more horrible ways to dodge the system. A straight forward economist minced no words to say that by pulling out big bills one could not alter or change the system. He was in the city today with his wife Anneli Holmstorm and a son to receive the coveted award which has been shared with Professor Oliver Hart, a US and British citizen. The economist spoke at length about economic and political challenges being faced by the world. He said ever swelling social media had its own big role in such a fast charging world. UNI NB SHK 0606
