Coronavirus: 288 persons under surveillance in Kerala, no need to panic: Minister

Kannur, Jan 27 (UNI) Kerala Health Minister K K Shailaja on Monday said that as many as 288 people in Kerala are under observation following the outbreak of coronavirus in China and there is no need for any panic.
Talking to news persons here after conducting a video conference with the top health officials, the Minister said, "Out of the samples of seven suspected persons who were hospitalized, tested at National Virology Institute (NVI), five of the results received on Monday were found to be negative. Remaining two samples report will receive on tomorrow."
Seven persons who have been hospitalized in Kerala, including three at Ernakulam and one each at Thiruvanathapuram, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur and Alapuzha are showing symptoms of H1NI, she said.
She also said that all the China returnees, including Medical students and tourists, will be put under surveillance for 28 days as a precaution.
Elaborate precautionary measures have been taken in the State with two isolation wards are opened in two hospitals in each district, including one at Medical College Hospital, she said.
