Lucknow, Mar 31(UNI) Renowned Muslim cleric Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali on Tuesday urged the people who had attended the religious congregation at Nizammuddin in Delhi to come forward and inform the authorities about their health and other details.
"The entire world is being under Coronavirus scare and it is the duty of every citizen to be responsible so that the virus does not spread," the Maulana said in a press statement here.
He also asked the people who had left the country to inform their respective governments about their health too.
Tablighi Jamat is a religious organisation spread over the entire world whose main motive is to create love and unity in society, he said.
"As Nizammuddin is the headquarter of this organisation, people from the entire world come here to attend the religious congregations. But the incident was unfortunate and now everyone has to show his commitment towards the country and society," he added.
'It is my appeal that all the people who have attended this congregation should go for voluntary test of Coronavirus so that they get themselves clean from the virus,' he appealed.
A total of 157 people from 19 districts had reportedly participated in this congregation.
Meanwhile , Darul Uloom in Deoband in Saharanpur district has informed the authorities that they did not send any of its members to the Tablighi Jamaat meeting in New Delhi.
According to sources, eleven people, including one from Kashmir, however had visited Deoband for a congregation similar to the one held by Tablighi Jamaat in New Delhi earlier this month.
