Conviction rate in Tripura shot up 83 pc in eight months

Agartala, Dec 3 (UNI) Tripura Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath here today asserted that conviction rate in the state has improved convincingly in past six months and claimed soon after assuming office, BJP – IPFT government adopted multi-pronged strategies to punish the criminals.
Nath pointed out that conviction rate in courts across Tripura was very low at one stage and a matter of deep concern for the new government. The factor responsible for this was poor investigation on the part of police and other investigating agencies but the government spared serious thought into the process of investigation and now starts bearing fruit.
“The things have started improving and between April and November this year conviction rate in courts shot up to 83pc and the trend continues even now, which has indicated a good development in the process of criminal investigation,” Nath said.
