Convene Assembly session, pass another vote-on-account budget : Anbazhagan urges govt

Puducherry, Jul 6 (UNI) AIADMK legislature party leader A Anbazhagan on Monday urged the government to convene the assembly session to pass another vote-on-account budget to tide over the present crisis arising out of non-presentation of the full budget as the Central government has not given its approval.
In a statement here, Mr Anbazhagan said it is wrong on the part of Union government to delay on giving approval for the budget.
The government need not wait for the approval and can present another vote-on-account budget to meet the government expenditure for the next three months, he said, adding that when the situation was favourable to present a full budget at the end of last March, the government had failed to take any constructive steps in this regard and presented the vote-on-account budget.
The validity of the vote-on-account budget came to a close on June 30 and as the government failed to present the budget yet, it could not meet the day-to-day expenses of the administration, the AIADMK leader said.
Pointing out the increase in the number of Coronavirus patients in the Union Territory, he also urged the government to ensure beds and medical infrastructure for all.
He said the government had failed to provide homeopathy tablet for everyone in the UT which will boost the immunity of the people.
