Ahmedabad, Apr 1 (UNI) After losing the 2023 IPL opener to Gujarat Titans, CSK Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni sent a strong message to his bowlers to control no-balls.
"No-ball is something they should try not to bowl because in modern cricket this is something that's in your control. At the end of the day, it hurts you really bad. So, it's important to control the no-balls," he said addressing the broadcasters after the game.
On Ruturaj Gaikwad's classy 92 off 50 balls, Dhoni said, "Well Ruturaj has been brilliant. You know whenever he gets going, he is like a pleasure to watch. He times the ball really well, uses the pace of the bowler. He makes the right decision under pressure. It’s all about making decisions and I feel over the years he has groomed himself and the way he picks his options, especially when he gets going it is pleasing on the eye to watch."
On Rajvardhan Hangargekar's impressive debut where he bagged three wickets, Dhoni said he has a very good potential and will get better with more exposure.
"I think it's important for the youngsters to step in. Even last year, we had a very good opportunity because for whatever reason we could find Mukesh (Choudhary).
"Unfortunately he is injured this year so Raj gets a chance. And I think he has very good potential. He has a bit of pace and the more exposure he gets the better he will get. Overall, I am not disappointed, I think the bowlers did quite well looking at the condition overall," he said.
