Conservation, consumption, sharing of benefits -- 3 goals of Int'l Biodiversity Day

United Nations, May 22 (UNI) The Convention on Biological Diversity, a mutilateral treaty comprising 196 countries, on Tuesday celebrated the International Day for Biological Diversity 2018, aiming to make people aware of biodiversity and highlight the progress made in its objectives, both at the national and global levels.
Themed 'Celebrating 25 Years of Action for Biodiversity,' the IDB 2018 urges the CBD member countries to achieve three goals - the global conservation of biodiversity, its sustainable use and the equitable sharing of its benefits.
In a statement here, UN Secretary General António Guterres said ''The Convention has three goals: the global conservation of biodiversity, its sustainable use and the equitable sharing of its benefits.
