Congress women wing blames BJP-RSS for weakening females

Lucknow, Sep 15 (UNI) The All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) on Saturday accused the BJP, along with the RSS, of trying to weaken the females and claimed that Congress always worked for women empowerment.
'BJP, RSS or even Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for that matter, have always advocated for weakening of the females but contrary to it, the Congress has always worked for the empowerment and upliftment of this half of the population of the country,' asserted AIMC president Sushmita Dev.
Talking to mediapersons here, Ms Dev, flanked by local MLAs Aradhna Mishra and Aditi Singh, said the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign has turned into a mockery in Uttar Pradesh.
'On one hand, the state government is talking of saving the girl child and educating them, while on the other, attack on the modesty of the members of the fairer sex has increased, with the result, girls are scared of even going to schools', Ms Dev pointed.
It is shameful to see that right from the students of Benaras Hindu University to women on the streets are becoming victims of abuse of power by the authorities, she added.
The AIMC chief also made a frontal attack on Mr Adityanath, for allegedly saving the party MLA, accused in the Unnao rape and murder case.
'The criminal proceedings against the Unnao MLA were initiated due to media pressure but how the party, which gave the slogan of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' is sheltering those attacking the modesty of women, is evident from the fact that neither the Unnao MLA has been removed from the party so far, nor even an disciplinary enquiry has been set up against him by the ruling party,' Ms Dev pointed out.
She further accused the Chief Minister of fooling the women of the state by showing his concern towards their safety and security, but not taking any concrete step.
'Uttar Pradesh is full of issues related to atrocities and exploitation of women. We have strengthened the UP Mahila Congress be appointing three zonal presidents, while the remaining zone will be also fulfilled very soon,' Ms Dev said, while talking about the experiment of dividing the UP Mahila Congress in four zones.
The Mahila Congress will now be further strengthened in the district, from block to the booth level, she added.
