Congress, Trinamool object to bringing SEZ amendment bill Ordinance way

New Delhi, Jun 26 (UNI) Congress and Trinamool Congress on Wednesday objected to bringing in the Special Economic Zone Amendment bill through the Ordinance route.
During a debate on The Special Economic Zones (Amendment) Bill, 2019, which replaces the Special Economic Zones (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019, in the Lok Sabha, Congress member Shashi Tharoor said the bill is welcome but the way the Constitutional process subverted, was not.
Citing the Article 123 of the Constitution of India grants the President certain law-making powers to promulgate ordinances when either of the two Houses of Parliament is not in session, Dr Tharoor said the ordinance should be brought in only if there is an urgency.
