Congress to hold protest demonstration across Odisha to protest deteriorating law and order situation

Bhubaneswar, Jul 23 (UNI) Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee will hold

demonstration in front of all the 30 District head quarter tomorrow in protest

against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

Congress Legislature Party Leader Narasingha Mishra told news persons

here that the law and order situation has totally collapsed in the state and

incidence of kidnapping and rape has significantly increased.

But the police have failed to arrest the accused and prevent such incidents.

The rising incidents of crime against women and children has exposed the

true face of the government towards the deteriorating law and order situation

in the state, Mr Mishra said.

He said while seven cases of rapes are being registered daily, the rate of

conviction was only six per year. The criminals have no fear of the Police

administration.

Mr Mishra said though the issue is being raised repeatedly in the Assembly

but the government seems unconcerned about it.

The Congress leader said the reply of the Ministers in the house does not

match with the sensitivity of question and subject asked by the members.

He said even though it was brought to the notice of the Speaker he is not

taking any step for it.The BJD government, he said, in its fifth term has no

respect for the house.

Mr Mishra said the house discussed the drought situation in the state. Instead

of making statement so as how to deal with the drought situation, the Revenue

Minister gave statistics about which area has received how much rainfall.

He said the government has no concern even though dacoity, theft, murder have

increased and the law and order situation collapsed.

The ongoing Assembly has been witnessing ruckus for the last two days forcing

the Speaker to adjourn the house without transacting any business.

The Opposition BJP and the Congress have been demanding a debate on the

rising sexual abuse of minor girls in the state and resignation of Chief Minister

Naveen Patnaik for the deteriorating law and order situation
