Congress slams Goa CM for his statement that govt employees' promotion would be based on performance

Panaji, Dec 8 (UNI) The Congress in Goa on Sunday criticised Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for his statement that the government was contemplating of basing promotion of government employees on performance rather than seniority and claimed that it was bound to demoralize and shatter the confidence of honest, hard working and efficient employees.
Addressing a press conference at Congress State Headquarters in the city, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) spokesperson Trajano D'Mello said a senior who would be responsible for writing the confidential report of his junior would pressurize the employee and extract 'illegal works' without any accountability and responsibility while those employees who keep on 'boot-licking' a senior would stand to benefit in promotion.
''In the above circumstances the performance would boil down to be subservient and boot-licker to climb the ladder faster than the honest, hard working, efficient employees. Therefore, the morale of the hones working officer would be affected and injustice could be done to them. This could also be a strategy of promoting employees with RSS leaning,'' he said.
