Panaji, Feb 24 (UNI) The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretatry Amarnath Panjikar has filed a complaint before the State Election Commission (SEC) against State Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Tourism Minister Manohar alias Babu Ajgaonkar, Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Chandrakant alias Babu Kavlekar and Director of Tourism and other Officials for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct of Zilla Panchayat Elections which came into force on February 21, 2020.
The complaint filed before the State Election Commission has demanded action by the SEC against the Chief Minister for flagging off the Carnaval Parade at Panaji on February 22, 2020, and giving a political speech.
It also mentions about the act of Tourism Minister and TCP Minister of occupying the stage at Margao Carnaval Celebrations on February 23, 2020. The complaint also mentions about the speech given by the Tourism Minister at Margao allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct. The complaint has demanded action against Tourism Department Officials for violating the instructions issued by SEC and allowing the political functionaries to openly use the platform of Carnaval organized by Department of Tourism.
