Congress dubs BJD- BJP alliance as an opportunistic

Congress dubs BJD- BJP alliance as an opportunistic

Bhubaneswar, Dec 09 (UNI) Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik today dubbed both BJD and the BJP as “opportunistic” and sacrificing the interest of the state to further their own political goal.

Mr Patnaik told news persons here that before the last general elections BJD said they would maintain equi-distance from both the Congress and the BJP.

But after the elections, both the BJP and the BJD were working together to sacrifice the interest of the country and the state.

Citing examples, the State Congress Chief said three members of the BJD in Rajya Sabha - Mr Sambit Patra, Mr Prasanna Acharya and Mr Bhaskar Rao had given notice to participate in the discussion on the Economic situation in the country.

But none of three members participated in the debate in the Upper house.

The Congress President further said the BJP members were making a hue and cry both in the state Assembly and outside over the mysterious death of Haridaspur Panchayat Executive Officer Smitarani Biswal in Jajpur district.

Unfortunately, the BJP members remained quiet when Mr Saptagiri Ulaka (Congress) raised the issue in Lok Sabha while the BJD members- Mr Bhartuhari Mahatab, Mr Pinaki Mishra and Mr Anubhav Patnaik interrupted.

The OPCC President said the BJD member Amar Patnaik was elected as member to the Governing body of All India Institute of Medical Science in an election held on December six last defeating the BJP candidate Aswini Vaishnav.

Mr Patnaik said BJD candidate won the election even though the party has seven members against 81 BJP members, 112 members of NDA and 49 members of Congress .

He described the alliance between the BJD and the BJP not good for the interest of the state.
