Congress demands enquiry into BJP expenses in last LS polls

New Delhi, Nov 12 (UNI) Slamming the decision of the Narendra Modi Government to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes as one taken in haste and without proper planning, the Congress today demanded that the BJP make public all its expenses in the last Lok Sabha election.
Addressing a press conference here, AICC spokesperson and former Union Minister Kapil Sibal asked the BJP to set up a commission of enquiry into all expenses made by it for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections before Mr Narendra Modi became Prime Minister. "This is a decision made in haste. It has been done without much planing. Hence, the people have been put to much hardships,’’ Mr Sibal said.
On the statement by the Finance Minister that the move was aimed at eliminating black money, Mr Sibal said, "Modiji should make a promise that whether it is elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab or anywhere else, for every meeting held by the BJP, there will be an expenditure account of the party. Irrespective of expenses on setting up tents and posters, bringing water tanks, they should ensure that all that is given by cheques. Who gives the cheque, to whom it is given, all that should be put up on their websites. "Only then will we understand that he is serious about it and this is not an election jumla,” he said.
