Congress demands CBI probe on attacks on Meghalaya women’s activists

Shillong, Nov 27 (UNI) Meghalaya’s opposition Congress on Tuesday demanded for a CBI probe Congress into the murderous attacks RTI activist Agnes Kharshiing and her aide Amita Sangma.
However, Home Minister James Sangma said that there was no need for a CBI probe as the government has instituted an independent inquiry to probe into the genesis that led to the attacks of the women activists.
“We should hand over the case to the CBI keeping in mind that the fact today there is a doubt of integrity of the people who are posted in those areas (East Jaintia Hills district),” Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma said.
