Panaji, Jan 22 (UNI) Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Shantaram Naik on Monday claimed that it was because of the role played by Congress party that State Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had acceded to the demands of taxi men who were on strike for the last three days.
Addressing a press conference at the party state headquarter in the city, he said, 'It is because of role played by Congress party that the Chief Minister has acceded to the demands of taxi men, however, in order to give credit to BJP, the Chief Minister met the delegation of taxi men led by Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo and announced the acceptance of certain demands of taxi men.'
Mr Naik said his party was happy that the strike was over, though temporarily, but found it strange that instead of conveying the acceptance of message through any of the functionary of BJP, the Chief Minister preferred to invite Deputy Speaker, disregarding neutral role that the Deputy Speaker was expected to perform, to convey his decision to the taxi men.
