Hyderabad, Nov 13 (UNI) After days of discussions the Congress has released its first list of 65 candidates for the December 7th Assembly elections in Telangana.
A series of meetings between party's Central Election Committee and prominent state party leaders over the last several days preceded the release of the first list in Delhi late on Monday night.
All most all the sitting members of the dissolved state Assembly besides former ministers who could not make it in the 2014 elections figure in the list.
TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy and his wife Padmavati Reddy were given tickets to contest from Huzurnagar and Kodad constituencies respectively.
CLP leader K Jana Reddy was given ticket to contest from Nagarjunasagar,while leader of the opposition in the Legislative Council got the party ticket from Kamareddy.
Seven former Ministers who had served in the Congress government in 2014 were also given tickets.
Similarly former union ministers Sarvey Satyanarayana and P.Balarm Naik were given tickets to contest from Secunderabad cantonment and Mahabubabad (ST) constituencies respectively
Mr V Pratap Reddy who had left the TDP and joined the Congress recently was named the party candidate against caretaker Chief Minister Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao in Gajwel constituency.
Mr Reddy had unsuccessfully contested as a TDP nominee against Mr Rao in 2014 elections.
Soon after the announcement of the Congress list,the TDP a major ally of the
Grand Alliance forged by the Congress also announced the names of its nine nominees for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Of the two other partners of the alliance, the CPI had already named its candidates, while the Telangana Jana Samiti is expected to announce the names of its candidates in a day or two.
