Congress alleges US trade deal favours America, hurts Indian farmers, industry

Ranchi, Feb 16 (UNI) Raising serious questions over India’s recent trade understanding with the United States, the Indian National Congress on Monday alleged that the agreement was heavily skewed in favour of American interests and would adversely impact India’s economy, farmers and small industries.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Bhawan here, AICC Secretary Pranav Jha questioned whether the country was being run by Prime Minister Narendra Modi or under pressure from US President Donald Trump. He said the nation was going through difficult circumstances and that developments of serious national importance were unfolding in a “mysterious manner,” leaving common citizens uninformed.
Referring to the recently concluded India-US trade deal, Jha alleged that it was an “extremely beneficial agreement for the United States” and damaging for India.
