Congress alleges poll code violation by BJP in Ranchi Civic elections, seeks EC action

Ranchi, Feb 16 (UNI) Amid the ongoing Ranchi Municipal Corporation elections, the Jharkhand unit of the Indian National Congress on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Jharkhand State Election Commission, alleging electoral inducement and violation of the Model Code of Conduct by the BJP and demanding strict action.
The Congress alleged that biscuits in special packaging bearing the photograph of a BJP-supported mayoral candidate, whose election symbol is Biscuit, are being distributed in the market to influence voters.
The party further claimed that promotional materials featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi were displayed at the packaging site, terming it an attempt to sway voters ahead of the civic polls.
