Congress alleges NDA govt took away six sectors from NEC

Guwahati, Jul 12 (UNI) Congress today alleged that the NDA government took away six sectors form the North Eastern Council (NEC) without any consultation with the plenary council.
“ Modi led BJP Government passed away the plenary council and approved North East Council (NEC) scheme unilaterally in the cabinet on March 28, 2018; this highlighted Prime Minister's neglect towards the region,” Ripun Bora, President of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee said.
According to reports, as in December 2017 Central Government took away six sectors from NEC, unilaterally without any consultation with plenary council. "While this took turns, no one except the Congress CM from Mizoram, Lal Thanhawla voiced his decedent against the issue," Mr Bora said.
Further, Mr Bora also stated that on one side Narendra Modi addressed the northeastern states by the honourific ‘Ashta Lakshmi’ but on the other side the truth was that only Rs 20 crore had been released per state of northeast for development processes.
