Jaipur, Nov 30 (UNI) Amidst the din of campaign for December 7 Assembly polls, the Opposition Congress on Friday accused Vasundhara Raje led government in Rajasthan of committing a major power purchase scam that caused the public ex-chequer a loss of Rs 6670 crore.
The Raje led government during its term in office between 2013 and 2018 purchased 94188 million units of power more than that purchased by the previous Gehlot led Congress regime(2008-2013) from private companies, the party leaders Randeep Surjewala, Pawan Khera, Jaiveer Shergil and others said in a joint statement here, quoting inputs gathered from the authorities under the RTI Act.
In this way the incumbent government had incurred Rs 35440.11 crore extra on the above purchase deals, they said adding, that since purchase was made from three companies on much higher rates than the settled rates in the power purchase agreement(PPA), this rendered a additional loss of Rs 6670 crore to the public ex-chequer.
