Cong to protest against irregularities in paddy procurement: Lallu

Lucknow, Oct 20 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Congress unit president Ajay Kumar Lallu said on Tuesday that his party will stage a massive protest at the district headquarters on October 22 to protest against the irregularities and corruption in paddy procurement in the state.
Mr Lallu told journalists here on Tuesday that the farmers are running from pillar to post to sell their paddy while the government is sitting with its eyes closed.
Despite various claims, the paddy purchase centers have not been opened in the state. On the other hand, paddy farmers are being exploited through huge cuts in the name of moisture and are being forced to sell their produce at smaller costs to the middlemen in some centers that are open, he alleged.
