Cong stages walkout over illicit mining in HP

Tapovan (Dharmshala), Dec 12 (UNI) The Opposition Congress on Thursday staged walkout from the state assembly during the question hour over government's inaction in curbing illicit mining active along Sawan river in Una district of the state.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur assured the house that government would consider proposals of opposition for deploying a Battalion on the spot.
"As this government has cracked down illicit mining in the Nurpur area of Kangra district by sending a police Battalion, similar action would be taken in Sawan river to curb such unlawful activity." Mr Thakur stressed adding that members should not to be hyper as they are doing their best to check the illegal mining.
