Cong slams Govt over 'selection' of CVC, VC; says entire rules and regulations vitiated

New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) Hitting out at the Narendra Modi government over the 'selection' of new Chief Vigilance Commission (CVC) and Vigilance Commissioner (VC), the Congress on Wednesday alleged that all the rules and regulations were scuttled and demanded the process of appointment of CVC and VC should be scrapped.
"No rules and regulations were followed, not even a peon is appointed this way. Are we living in a democracy or a banana republic and what is the government trying to hide that they need 'their' man as the CVC", asked Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari while addressing mediapersons at AICC headquarters.
He also said that the process of appointment of CVC and VC should be scrapped and a new search committee be constituted, new applications be invited and that the appointments be done as per procedure.
