Cong's volte-face on Krishi Karma Award to MP, says Govt produced misleading figures

Bhopal, Nov 2 (UNI) In an astonishing volte-face on the Krishi Karman awards bestowed on the Madhya Pradesh regime by the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government, Congress Chief Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala today alleged that the Shivraj Singh Chouhan dispensation presented deceptive figures to obtain the award.
“Based on the submission by the Madhya Pradesh regime that the total foodgrain production rose from 229 lakh tonne in 2011-12 to 287 lakh tonne in 2012-13 – a jump by 25 per cent, the Centre conferred the award to it in 2012-13,” Mr Surjewala told media persons here.
“However, the dispensation conveyed a reduced figure of 234 lakh tonne for 2012-13, and claimed that its production rose to 300 lakh tonne in 2013-14 – translating into a surge of 28 per cent,” he said.
