New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) The Congress on Monday fielded former BJP MP and niece of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Karuna Shukla against Chhattisharh's Rajnandgaon seat, in the two-phase state Assembly elections.
Ms Shukla was among the six candidates in the second list of Congress candidates for the Chhattisgarh elections, cleared by the Central Election Committee of the party.
Congress sources said that the screening committee of the party had recommended the name of Ms Shukla to take on the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister from the Rajnandgaon seat.
The list, cleared by the Congress CEC and released by AICC General Secretary Mukul Wasnik, also includes the names of Girwar Janghel from Khairagarh, Bhuneshwar Singh Baghel from Dongargarh-SC, Daleshwar Sahu from Dongargaon, Channi Sahu from Khujji and Indira Shah Mandavi from Mohla Manpur-ST.
