Cong opposes Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial (Amendment) Bill 2019

New Delhi, Nov 19 (UNI) Congress on Tuesday opposed the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial (Amendment) Bill 2019, that seeks to remove the Congress president from the list of members of the Jallianwala Bagh trust,
Speaking on the cointinuing debate on the Bill in the post lunch session, Pratap Singh Bajwa of Congress , opposing the Bill, demanded that the government take back this resolution.
Bajwa added that people will not appreciate it if the governmentt brings this Bill and asked to show some magnanimity .
He also asked the government not to remove any existing member from the trust.
He also demanded that Shaheed Bhagat Singh should be given Bharat Ratna award for his contribution.
Participating in the debate, parties like All India Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party and BJD demanded to include family members or kin of the people massacred in the incident, that left more than 1500 people dead.
Meanwhile, BJP's Shwait Malik, supporting the Amendment Bill, said no politics should be done on the 'shaheed sthal'. He said that the Trust under the Congress government was not working properly. There were no toilets, fans for the visitors. No guides were available. The Trust was in pathetic condition.

Prof Ram Gopal Yadav of SP , while supporting the Bill, said children of those who have sacrificed their lives should be provided free education.
While, BJD's Prasanna Acharya said, "By removing the Congress president from the trust you can't rewrite the history," a
'The Centre should not distort history,'he said.
