Cong MLA Patil flags 5,950 bogus votes in Aland

Kalaburagi (Karnataka), Sept 9 (UNI) Senior Congress MLA BR Patil today alleged largescale irregularities in the electoral rolls of Aland constituency during the previous elections, claiming that as many as 5,950 bogus votes were registered despite repeated objections being raised with officials.
Addressing mediapersons here, Patil said that around 18 individuals had submitted false applications in the constituency, which subsequently led to the discovery of nearly 6,000 fake entries.
"The then election officer had prima facie confirmed the irregularities, following which an FIR was filed. However, despite the inquiry dragging on for months, no substantial action has been taken. The Election Commission, instead of cooperating, has remained silent on the matter," he alleged.
