New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) Accusing Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani of giving ventilator status to 'Dhaman-1,' when in reality it is a mechanised Artificial Manual Breathing Unit bag, the Congress on Saturday demanded an independent Judicial inquiry into the whole scam.
Addressing a press conference through video-conferencing, AICC Spokesperson Pawan Khera said, 'We want answers as to why was Dhaman 1 marketed within the state and outside the state as a ventilator, when it is not a ventilator?
'The company website, Gujarat CM and Gujarat Government insist that it is a ventilator. There were media reports that quoted doctors, who said that Dhaman-1 is not a ventilator, but an Artificial Manual Breathing Unit (AMBU) bag, which cannot be classified as a ventilator. We want to know why is the government of Gujarat coming to the defence of Dhaman 1? Why is 'Dhaman-1', a mechanized AMBU (Artificial Manual Breathing Unit) bag, given ventilator status by the Chief Minister.'
Demanding an independent Judicial enquiry in the matter, he said,'We also want to know if PM Care fund was used to buy 5000 pieces of Dhaman 1 through HLL Lifecare. All these answers can only be found through an independent judicial enquiry. '
'When the entire world is grappling with Covid 19 and the impact it has had on their lives and economic well being and grappling with fear and uncertainty, we come across layers and layers of controversies coming from Gujarat in its fight against Covid,' Mr Khera said.
