Cong demands EC to disqualify PM LS membership over false statement of poll expenditure
New Delhi, Jun 6 (UNI) The Congress today demanded that the Election Commission take up immediate action on its demand for disqualification of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Lok Sabha MP over his false statement of expenditure during the election for Varanasi seat. A Congress delegation, led by AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, submitted a memorandum in this regard to the election commission this afternoon. In a memorandum to the EC, the Congress said a complaint under section 10 A of the Representation of People’ Act for disqualification of Mr Modi as a MP from Varanasi is pending for the last almost one year and the it has not taken any action on the matter despite statement having been made in the Delhi High Court. The delegation pointed out that it was a clear case where a false statement of expenditure has been submitted by Mr Modi in connection with his election expenditure during the 2014 Lok Sabha election of Varanasi and sufficient evidence has been placed on record. The delegation emphasised that the matter should be taken up immediately for his disqualification. UNI AR SW SB 1934
