Cong demands arrests of those taking law into their own hands in UP

New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) Alleging that law and order situation had worsened under newly appointed chief minister Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh in the last one month, Congress today demanded arrest of perpetrators of crimes and restoration of 'normalcy' in the state.
Addressing mediapersons, Congress spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill said, "Prior to UP assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to convert Uttar Pradesh into "Uttam Pradesh". But after annointing Yogi Adityananth as CM, the assurance has turned out to be mere "jumla". This is so because an atmosphere of fear prevails amongst the masses of UP as the state has come to be in the grip of "Goonda politics".
''Three prominent incidents in UP recently are a pointer to the fact that the state has really been engulfed in "goondaism". The Yogi government's stoic silence over the incidents has added fuel to the fire and emboldened the offenders'', he noted.
