Cong criticises Modi Govt over less representation of SC, OBC in Secretary posts

New Delhi, Aug 13 (UNI) The Congress on Tuesday alleged that under Narendra Modi government, the rights of Dalits and Backward classes of population are being regularly assaulted.
"It has become BJP policy to discriminate against and turned a blind eye to the interest of the Dalits and Backward classes, who constituted half of the India's population", alleged AICC communication in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala.
He was quoting a media report that claimed less representation of Secretaries posts from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes in the current dispensation.
"Out of 89 Secretaries of Government of India, only one from SC and none from OBC category" Mr Surjewala charged.
He further alleged that the Modi government does not want their presence in running the administration.
"There has been regular assault on the rights of Dalits and Backwards", he added.
On Monday, Mr Surjewala had crticised the government and said it has a step-motherly attitude towards Dalits and Tribals.
In the last six years, the BJP government has shown a step motherly attitude towards Dalits and Tribals. Moreover, Dalits were made victims of the BJP's political indifference, social exploitation and economic negligence", he had alleged.
