Cong claims UPA policies reduced poverty in India, points to UN report

New Delhi, Jul 12 (UNI) The Congress on Friday said its view that the policies of the UPA governments helped reduce poverty stands vindicated by the United Nations report which says India lifted 271 million people out of poverty between 2005-2006 and 2015- 2016.
Quoting a report by United Nations that India has lifted 271 million people from poverty during 2005-2006 to 2015- 2016 period, Congress said that the growth under UPA governments and the policies that triggered these are being acknowledged globally.
"The UN has credited India for lifting 271 million people from poverty and reducing poverty by half.
