Cong brands Modi sarkar 'worst govt ever,' terms 'social tension' as its achievement

New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) As Narendra Modi-led NDA government completed its two years in office today, it came under severe attack from the principal opposition party Congress, which brought out the Government's report card declaring the Saffron-led combine a total failure on all fronts. The Congress fielded its four senior leaders -- Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Union Minister Kapil Sibal, Leader of party in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and Party's media in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala to rain fire over the NDA Government, which turns two-year-old today. "I want to ask Mr Modi what you are celebrating for..,..There should be a reason for celebration..,..Tell us, what is the reason for celebration," Mr Sibal said. He wondered if country has really become an ideal state with all problems getting vanished and used a lot of phrases to hit out at the NDA government. Mocking the Prime Minister, he said Mr Modi's foreign policy was to go to a foreign country and then speak 'foran' (immediately). ' Though our PM (Manmohan Singh) didn’t speak much, his work talked. Now, Mr Modi speaks a lot, but his work tells nothing,' Mr Sibal said. Criticising the government for allowing Pakistan's Joint Investigative Team to visit the Pathankot airbase, which was attacked by terrorists who came from across the border, Mr Sibal said the NDA government invited those very people who harbor terrorists. "When in opposition he (Mr Modi) used to say that Congress writes love letters to Pakistan..,..Now what he is doing," he questioned. A sharp attack on the NDA government also came from Mr Azad, who branded it as 'the worst government ever' and said it was 'thriving only on advertisements.' The Modi government had done nothing except for renaming and repacking schemes and programmes initiated by the previous UPA government led by the Congress, Mr Azad alleged. He dubbed 'social tension, provocative statements from ruling party’s MLAs, MPs, Ministers, shrinking space for democratic values, increase in crime against women, Dalits and minorities as some of NDA’s achievements. Attacking the Government for its alleged flip-flops on foreign policy front, Mr Azad said,"Modi ji's foreign policy has consistently been inconsistent, vis-a-vis China and Pakistan." He said there have been record ceasefire violations, nearly 1000. Besides, he said there is a "non existent Naga accord." About the rural sector, he said the country was facing a major agricultural distress. "But the Govt has done nothing to help farmers, especially in this time of drought," he alleged. "Investment is low, food inflation, job creation is lowest. They promised 2 crore jobs and people got 1.35 lakh. Exports also falling," Mr Azad said, referring to the economic situation. On the law and order front, he alleged that the Government has been spreading fear. "Dalit, women, students are living in fear," he said. Mr Kharge said though the Prime Minister was busy in making foreign trips, he never visited drought-hit areas to review ground zero situation. ' 2 saal ka desh mange hisab, Kiska sath aur kaha hai vikas (After two years, country seeks answer, where is development and whose development),' Mr Kharge said. The party also released a film on two years of the Modi Government, which ridiculed the BJP and its government. UNI RG-MK AE SS
