Cong appoints M Okendro as Manipur PCC president

New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) In a reshuffle, Congress on Wednesday appointed M Okendro as the president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, replacing Gaikhangam.
"Congress president has appointed M Okendro as the president of Manipur Congress Committee with immediate effect. The party appreciates the contribution of outgoing PCC president Gaikhangam", said AICC General Secretary In-Charge of the organisation, KC Venugopal, in a statement here.
The grand old party had won 28 seats in the last Assembly elections and became the single largest party in the state. However, it has lost eight of it's MLAs, who had joined the BJP.
On Wednesday, Congress also appointed former MLA Subhash Chopra as Delhi PCC president and former MP Kirti Azad as the chairman of the Congress campaign committee for the elections.
