New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) The Congress party on Monday alleged that though Narendra Modi government claimed that there is not a single corruption allegations against them, they have indulged in three major spectrum scams worth of Rs 69,000 crores.
Addressing mediapersons at AICC headquarters, party spokesperson Pawan Khera said the Modi government has been expose by a CAG, which was recently tabled in Parliament, that it allotted Microwave spectrum to private companies on ‘first come, first serve’ basis.
“It is flagrantly violating the 2012 Supreme Court judgment in the 2G case, which says that the spectrum allocation should be done through auctioning and struck down the FCFS policy”, Mr Khera said.
He said the Modi government gave the Microwave spectrum to private companies even as 101 applications were pending with the Government and this caused a loss of Rs 560 crore to the public exchequer.
Listing the other ‘scams’ by the ruling government, Mr Khera said “Modi Government surreptitiously took steps to protect the interests of leading telecom companies by helping them avoid the payment of charges rightfully owed to the exchequer, thus facilitating a staggering Rs 45000 crore public money being buried under the carpet – ‘Spectrum Recovery Scam’, exposed by the Congress party in July 2016, on the basis of a CAG report".
Mr Khera said the Congress party exposed another corruption on the basis of an inter-ministerial committee that the BJP Government unilaterally and surreptitiously deferred the recovery of spectrum auction amount by six years and added that “thereby causing an interest loss of Rs 23821 crore alone to the public exchequer.
“If we extrapolate the total cost by these three spectrum scams by the Modi Government, then the country lost a staggering amount of Rs 69,381 crores have been lost on account and BJP’s select cronies have been benefitted”, the Congress spokesperson said.
He also demanded an independent investigation into the finding of the latest CAG reports and said “CAG’s observations on huge revenue loss due to the BJP Government’s flawed spectrum management are a testimony to their crony policies”.
“For last 5 years they squandered the nation’s wealth to favour a select few”, he alleged.
